Travel-wise, for the vast majority of people in North America, Germany is one of those places that people don't really know much about. I must admit that before visiting Germany I did not know much about its pre-modern history; its abundance of wonderful castles, churches, and forests, and about the hospitable people that live in this clean and orderly nation.
Discovering Germany has been a pleasant surprise to me on so many different levels. If you love castles, good food, wonderful beer, and Medieval architecture just like I do, Germany is the perfect place to visit. What surprised me most about Germany is how wonderful, helpful, and kind the people there are. I stayed in a small city called Bretten where the locals did not speak much English, and yet every time I needed help, someone would offer me a helping hand.
What makes people fall in love with a place is how happy, comfortable, and welcome they feel there. Throughout my stay, Germany treated me like a welcomed visitor and not a foreigner, and for that I am humbled and thankful.
